CSEB Research Webinar on April 15, 2021: The Mount Polley Mine Disaster: An Ecotoxicological Perspective

Join Dr. Greg Pyle (University of Lethbridge) on Thursday, April 15 at 10am Pacific / 12 noon Central / 2pm Atlantic Daylight Time for his reflections on this historic event. On Aug. 4, 2014, a tailings dam failed at the Mount Polley copper and gold mine in the Cariboo region of BC and spilled 25 M cubic metres of contaminated tailings into nearby aquatic ecosystems, including Quesnel Lake—the deepest fjord lake in the world, and the fifth largest lake in BC. This presentation will examine the disaster from an aquatic ecotoxicological perspective.
